Cheerleaders
The University of Louisiana Ragin Cajun cheerleaders are a co-ed squad that represent the University at all
- home and away football games
- home men’s and women’s basketball games
- home volleyball games
- non-athletic functions such as Alumi events, student orientations, pep rallies and youth clinics
The cheerleaders attend UCA cheerleading camp during the summer at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. They returned from camp in July 2007 with the following awards:
- Cheer Champs, Small Co-Ed
- Sideline Champs, Small Co-Ed
- Most Collegiate, Small Co-Ed (selected by UCA Staff)
SCHOLARSHIPS/STIPENDS & OUT OF STATE STUDENTS:
As of now there are no scholarships offered to cheerleaders, however stipends of $400 in the fall and $400 in the spring are given to spirit group members. In addition, out of state tuition fees are waived for spirit group members, thus your tuition is that of an in state student.
PRACTICES/WORKOUTS
Cheerleading practice and strengthening and condition sessions are held throughout the summer, fall semester, winter break and spring semester 2-3 times per week. Strengthening and conditioning sessions are also required and held 3-4 times per week.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Ragin’ Cajun Cheerleading, please print the Cheer Prospect Profile and return it to the Spirit Group Office. Tryouts are held in April each year.
